Hose construction

Hydraulic rubber hoses are getting popular in conveying hydraulic fluids with pressure for their great flexibility, affordability and durability. General speaking, a hydraulic hose consists at least three parts - an inner tube which carries the fluid, a reinforcement supporting the tube and an abrasion and ozone resistant cover.

Inner Tube

Inner tube should be compatible with the fluids it will carry and have some flexibility. Common materials of making tube are synthetic rubber, thermoplastics and PTFE. They are friendly to most petroleum- and water-based hydraulic fluids. If the tube reacts with the fluids, the hose will be prone to leakage or cause incidents. Reinforcement

Hose reinforcement is taken as a sheath protecting fragile tube. It is used to be multiple layers of braided textile, wire or spiral-wound wire. They can support different grades of pressures according to your applications. Commonly, textile reinforcement, whether single or double layers, is ideal for tight routing and low pressure system such as return and suction systems. Braid wire and spiral wire are usually for high working pressure. If the system has severe requirement of impulse fatigue, spiral wire reinforcement is the priority.

Outside Cover

Cover is the first barrier to guard the hose. It is usually made of abrasion and weather proof synthetic rubber to resist oils, chemicals, ozone and other adverse factors from outside environment.

Seven effective steps to help you select proper hydraulic hose:

Hydraulic hoses are designed to carry hydraulic fluids often with high pressure and high temperature. They are very important elements for hydraulic systems. Not all hydraulic hoses are suitable for all purposes. There is a 7 alphabet principle to resolve your problems of hydraulic hose problems.

1.Hose size

Inappropriate hose inside diameter will cause pressure loss and create excessive heat. Dash number refers to sixteenths of an inch standing for the size and coupling and makes the measurement easy to remember. Although Hose O.D. will not affect the pressure and heat, it is still an important factor when hose routing is tight.

2.Temperature

Fluid temperature and ambient temperature should be considered. Fluid temperatures, whether maximum or minimum, should be kept in a reasonable range. When the fluid is far higher or lower than specified operating temperature, the tube will degrade materially. Ambient temperature also concerns about the life of the hose, especially the cover and reinforcement. Once the cover is not workable, reinforcement is exposed to the environments, so the potentiality will be increasing.

3.Application

Understand the applications are very helpful the hydraulic hose selection. You can ask yourself or your customer some questions such as where are the hose used?

4.Media to be carried

Medias including oils, hydraulic fluids and special chemicals directly contact with the tube. You must be sure that the tube can be compatible with the fluid, or the hose will fail in a short time and cause unnecessary accidents.

5.Pressure

Operating pressure should be lower than maximum working pressure and the hose is not suitable for working under maximum pressure for a long time. Surge pressure, which is far higher than normal operating pressure, should be given enough attention to. If the pressure surge is very harmful, spiral wire hydraulic hose may be your premium choice.

6.Ends of coupling

Couplings of hydraulic hoses are not interchangeable. Improper coupling also shortens life service period. Consult the manufacturer for suitable coupling.

7. Delivery
